Lycaste schilleriana

Lycaste schilleriana, a botanical species hailing from South America, is a medium to large orchid that blooms with fragrant flowers once a year in spring. This orchid thrives in intermediate temperatures with moderate to high light intensity. It is an adult plant that prefers to be grown in a pot cultivation system. Known for its deciduous nature, Lycaste schilleriana sheds its leaves in winter to early summer, requiring a moist growing medium at all times. Proper watering is crucial – the pseudobulbs should remain full and plump to indicate correct watering. Additionally, a fine spray over the foliage is beneficial during sunny weather. To encourage flower spike development, adjust watering starting from November and resume normal watering once flower spikes begin to form between January and March.
