Cattleya walkeriana tipo ‘Hector’ × ‘Thais Cristina’

Cattleya walkeriana tipo ‘Hector’ × ‘Thais Cristina’ is a fascinating cross between two selected cultivars of the Brazilian botanical species Cattleya walkeriana, particularly appreciated for its beautifully shaped flowers and intense, pleasant fragrance.

The resulting blooms are expected to display attractive shades of pink to lavender, potentially enhanced by deeper magenta or purple tones on the lip. Their broad petals and elegant floral structure reflect the distinctive beauty of this highly sought-after species. As a seed-grown cross, individual plants may vary in flower colour, shape, and intensity.

The plants are cultivated in pots with a well-draining orchid substrate, providing excellent aeration around the roots.

Cattleya walkeriana prefers intermediate to warm temperatures, bright, filtered light, moderate humidity, and good air circulation. Regular watering is recommended during active growth, allowing the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings. A somewhat drier period after growth has matured may encourage flowering.

With its elegant flowers, delightful fragrance, and interesting selected parentage, Cattleya walkeriana tipo ‘Hector’ × ‘Thais Cristina’ is a beautiful addition to any collection of botanical Cattleyas.
