Dracula hirtzii is a fascinating botanical orchid species native to the humid mountain forests of Ecuador. It is particularly appreciated for its extraordinary flowers, characterised by their unusual triangular shape, elongated sepal tails, and intricate patterns in shades of cream, yellow, and reddish-brown. Its distinctive floral structure makes this species especially attractive to collectors of rare and unusual orchids.
The plants offered are well-developed specimens with numerous growths, cultivated in Orchitop S pots. This special cultivation system promotes excellent air circulation around the roots while helping to maintain the moisture required by this genus.
Dracula hirtzii prefers cool to intermediate temperatures, shaded conditions, high humidity, and good air circulation. The growing medium should remain consistently moist without becoming waterlogged, and prolonged exposure to high temperatures should be avoided.
Like many Dracula species, its flower spikes may develop downwards, making the open structure of the Orchitop pot particularly suitable for cultivation and flowering.
With its extraordinary flowers, fascinating botanical characteristics, and well-established growth, Dracula hirtzii is a remarkable addition to any collection of miniature and cloud forest orchids.
