Peristeria elata

Peristeria elata, also known as the Dove Orchid, is a spectacular botanical species native to Panama, famous for its large, fragrant flowers whose central structure resembles a small dove. These are impressive adult plants cultivated in 17 cm pots, with very long leaves that can reach almost 1 metre in length. Due to their exceptional size, some leaves may need to be shortened for safe shipping. This does not affect the health of the plant, as older leaves are naturally lost during the winter resting period before new growth develops. For this reason, and because of the considerable size of the plants, purchasing directly at the greenhouse is recommended whenever possible. Peristeria elata thrives in intermediate to warm temperatures with moderate light and requires abundant watering during active growth, followed by a drier period as growth matures. With proper seasonal care, this impressive species will reward you with its iconic, beautifully fragrant dove-shaped flowers.
