Hoya imbricata is native to the tropical forests of South-East Asia, particularly the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and New Guinea. It grows as an epiphyte, often climbing trees and clinging to the trunks with its leaves, which form a characteristic overlapping pattern.
