- In the flowering or growing season more water is required at the roots. The flowers are thick, waxy, and long lasting.
When large the pseudobulbs can be as big as a softball with flower spikes over 6 feet tall. This plant will lose leaves on older growths (bulbs) when the plant flowers or during the development of new growth. Some die back of leaf tips on these older growths can be expected when it’s time to shed their leaves.
